Battle of Sulci

Punic Wars - Punic Wars Decoration

Background

The Battle of Sulci was a minor naval battle of the First Punic War that was fought between the Carthaginians and the Roman Republic. Not much is known about the battle itself other than it occurred off the coast of the town of Sulci on the island of Sardinia.

The Roman navy was led by Gaius Sulpicius Paterculus who engaged and won a small victory over Hannibal Gisco. The Carthaginians did not lose many ships and the battle was of relatively little strategic importance.
