Boodes

Punic Wars - Punic Wars Decoration

Background

Boodes was a Carthaginian senator and naval officer that served during the First Punic War. Nothing is known about his early years or career. During the Battle of the Lipari Islands he led a highly successful naval assault on the Roman Republic where he managed to capture the consul Gnaeus Cornelius Scipio Asina. This defeat while minor for Rome was a humiliating defeat for the upstart new navy they created. This is all we know abut Boodes, he likely returned to Carthage and resumed his senatorial duties.
