Bomilcar (Suffete)

Background

Bomilcar was a Carthaginian commander and nobleman during the Second Punic War in the 3rd century BC. He was a suffete which had considrable power in the Carthaginian senate assembly presided over many of the important periods of this war. He was the son-in-law of Himilcar Barca as well as the father of Hanno who was known to have led part of Hannibal Barca's army as they crossed the Rhone River in 218 BC as well as at the Battle of Cannae at 216 BC.
